Airhelp.com

Ever had a flight that got delayed or cancelled, and you ended up stuck for some time? You know how it can be a huge hassle to follow up with the airline on your own to try and get compensation?

It usually takes a lot of time and effort, and sometimes we end up not doing it at all. Well, that’s where AirHelp comes in.

They take care of the entire process, so you don’t have to spend hours on the phone with the airline or filling out forms. All you have to do is submit your flight details to AirHelp and they’ll handle everything else. And the best part is, if they’re not able to get you the compensation you’re owed, you won’t have to pay a thing. You usually pay them a fixed fee but if the option would be not to follow up at all, it’s a win. So if you’re ever stuck with a delayed or cancelled flight, give AirHelp a try.

Samira Holma- Airbnb

Why not live like a king when in Scotland? One out of many extraordinary Airbnbs.

Airbnb

I’ve been using Airbnb since 2014 and stayed in many different charming places all over the world. Ranging from South Africa, to the US, to all over South America, and Europe.

I’ve rented private apartments, as well as rooms from local hosts. It’s a great way to connect with the local culture, since you can pick an Airbnb full of personality in your (to-be) favorite area.

The majority of the hosts have provided me with great local recommendations, and several have also ended up becoming my friends. Some are just renting out there place once in a while, while others are running their Airbnb(s) as a business.

More about Airbnb

Founded in 2008, Airbnb’s mission is to create a world where people can belong through healthy travel that is local, authentic, diverse, inclusive and sustainable. Airbnb’s accommodation marketplace provides access to 7 million unique places to stay in more than 100,000 cities and 191 countries and regions.
With Experiences, Airbnb offers unprecedented access to local communities and interests through 40,000 unique, handcrafted activities run by hosts across 1,000+ cities around the world. Airbnb’s people-to-people platform benefits all our stakeholders, including hosts, guests, employees and the communities in which we operate.

I helped a local family in Cuba to set up their Airbnb listing. These days it’s always fully booked, which completely has changed their life. That’s just one example of how Airbnb helps millions of people around the world to unlock and monetize their spaces, and knowledge, and become hospitality entrepreneurs.
Airbnb has developed a lot over the years, now offering authentic experiences as well as luxury stays. You can find anything from a windmill in Holland, to exclusive mansions, tree houses, Irish castles, and everything in between.

Booking.com

Each day, more than 1,550,000 room nights are reserved on Booking.com. Established in 1996 in Amsterdam, Booking.com has grown from a small Dutch start-up to one of the largest travel e-commerce companies in the world.

Booking.com is a great way to discover accommodation options. If you travel frequently, you also get awarded via their Genius program with discounts and special treats like free breakfasts etc.
It exists this hate/love relationship between accommodation owners and Booking, since Booking earn its revenue by charging commission.

They have however also changed the reality completely for these business owners, helping travelers to ‘suddenly’ find them.

Some hotels offer discounts for direct bookings to get around the comission part (you can always check). I like to make direct reservations to support local companies, but use Booking frequently.
