Not without reason. <\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was born here after all, and you could probably visit a new <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">milonga<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> every day for a year, without going to the same place once. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What might be less known, is that there are several great places to dance bachata and salsa in Buenos Aires too. Many salsa and bachata World Champions are in fact from Argentina. Karen Forcano, who won the Professional Salsa Cabaret class during World Salsa Summit together with Ricardo (from Chile), twice in a row (2016 and 2017), is just one example. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lSFStwfmlJk\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ricardo &amp; Karen, Chile &amp; Argentina, Professional Salsa Cabaret, Final Round, \u00a0Salsa Summit 2017 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if you aren\u2019t aiming for exactly that level, there are several places where you can go salsa and bachata dancing in Buenos Aires. Here are some of my favorites,\u00a0listed in order of the day of the week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Update 2022:<br \/>Unfortunately many of\u00a0 the places I used to love are not running anymore.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve specified that next to the names below and have added a few new options based on my local friends&#8217; (who dance a lot) recommendations. Things are changing quickly in BA and especially so with the panademic. Please do always check the Facebook\/Instagram page of the place you&#8217;re planning on going to, as that&#8217;s where you usually will find the most up-to-date information. Mondays is the best day to go here, even if they host weekend events too. They usually offer salsa classes from 19.30 on Mondays, while the social dance starts at 23.00 and goes on until about 3.00am. The crowd is a mix of beginners and advanced dancers. The ambiance is great and you\u2019ll be able to dance salsa and bachata non-stop until closing time, and still be thinking how great it would be if the DJ could play just one more song when the music stops.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LaVirutaTangoClub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Viruta<\/a><br \/>One of the most well-established venues for Tango in Buenos Aireas also provides bachata evenings with classes. You can come here for an all-nighter as they also are known for their gastronomy. While they used to do classes on Mondays from 20.30 followed by social, things change quickly in BA and extra so due to the panademic. Please check their FB page via the link above for the most up-to-date information.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/elbarcitobachatero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Barcito Bachatero<\/a><br \/>From 10pm, El Barcito let&#8217;s you start the week right with salsa and bachata classes for beginners and intermediate., followed by social. Sign up to their list via their FB page linked to in the name!<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Tuesdays<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is always something going on in Buenos Aires, but there are not any regular salsa events that I know of on Tuesdays. There are several classes to choose from though, at places such as <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasalsera.com\/index1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Salsera<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with great instructors. La Salsera offer classes in Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LaVirutaTangoClub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Viruta<\/a> started doing salsa evenings on Tuesdays from 20.30 followed by social dance just before the panademic. The level is usually high with great dancers all over the place. I think you develop a lot as a dancer by dancing with others on that level. It\u2019s also entertaining to watch improvised mini shows on the dance floor. The ambiance and the music is great. It goes on until about 4am and ended up becoming one of my absolute favorite places. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/elbarcitobachatero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Barcito Bachatero<\/a><br \/>El Barcito goes strong on Wednesdays too from 10pm. Starting with salsa and bachata classes for beginners and intermediate., followed by social. They usually organize different events throughout the week, and Thursdays is the day of salsa and bachata. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When I went, they had two dance floors; one with salsa, and another with bachata. Later the same night, they combined both at one of the dancefloors, and started to play reggaeton and more traditional music on the other dancefloor. The level was very mixed. Some were just there to have a good time and didn\u2019t really dance salsa or bachata. I went with a group of friends and we had lots of fun. On Fridays, they usually offer free classes from about 11pm, followed by social dancing until 4am. I only went once but had a good time. Many of my local friends go regularly, especially those who live in the north part of Buenos Aires. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><strong>La Salsera<\/strong><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another great option on Fridays is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasalsera.com\/index1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Salsera<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the same place that offers classes on Tuesdays. On Fridays, they have two dance floors; salsa downstairs, and bachata upstairs. Sometime between 12am-1am is a good time to go. The night starts pretty late in BA. There are two, Azcuar Palermo and Azcuar Abasto. Both are open until about 5-6am and play a good mix of salsa and bachata. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azucar Abasto, located at Avenida Corrientes, is one of the oldest salsa venues in Buenos Aires and organizes bachata nights on Fridays. Many times with live music. Check out <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/azucarabasto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their FB page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for specifics about particular nights.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Saturdays<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/azcucar-palermo-476x409-1.jpg\" width=\"476\" height=\"409\" alt=\"azcucar-palermo-476x409\" class=\"wp-image-11980 alignnone size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/azcucar-palermo-476x409-1.jpg 476w, https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/azcucar-palermo-476x409-1-300x258.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 476px) 100vw, 476px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many events to choose from on Saturdays. A safe card for a good night with lots of bachata and salsa is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azucarbelgrano.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azucar Palermo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The music is great and it gets crowded around 12.30-1am. I\u2019ve taken a sunrise walk home from here more than once. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Sundays<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/malecon-buenos-aires-768x432-1.jpg\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" alt=\"malecon-buenos-aires-768x432\" class=\"wp-image-11981 alignnone size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/malecon-buenos-aires-768x432-1.jpg 768w, https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/malecon-buenos-aires-768x432-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/malecon-buenos-aires-768x432-1-610x343.jpg 610w, https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/malecon-buenos-aires-768x432-1-480x270.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Malecon<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/feelingmultiespacio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Update 2022: <\/strong><\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/feelingmultiespacio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unfortunately the events at Malecon are not running anymore<\/a><\/strong><br \/>Sundays are very happening in the salsa and bachata world in Buenos Aires. If the weather is nice, my personal favorite is Malecon. The event takes place at an open space in Puerto Madero, where you dance outside to the sound of the river and a mix of bachata and salsa. It\u2019s open from 6pm until 12am. I love dancing outside and the ambience was amazing when I went. This was during the winter time. My local friends told me that it gets about 10 times more crowded during the summer. Can\u2019t wait to go back\u2026<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ElPradoBelgrano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Prado<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From 7pm until midnight at the @glorietabelgrano, Prado claims to be better than Tinder.\u00a0 Whether you&#8217;re looking for that or not, it&#8217;s all about salsa and bachata. Social dance, a mixed audience of tourists, expats and locals. I haven&#8217;t been here yet since it wasn&#8217;t running last time I was in BA, but will hopefully be able to check it out next time around. This weekly event starts at 23.00 with pizza on the house, and social dance until about 4am. The crowd is a mix of beginners and advanced dancers. I really liked the ambiance here. It\u2019s also a favorite of many of my local friends. The organizers are known in the salsa\/bachata scene in Buenos Aires and have done a great job. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>More bachata and salsa in Buenos Aires<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This list isn\u2019t complete. There are many more places outside of the city in the province of Buenos Aires. Karen Forcano, who won the Professional Salsa Cabaret class during World Salsa Summit together with Ricardo (from Chile), twice in a row (2016 and 2017), is just one example. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lSFStwfmlJk\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ricardo & Karen, Chile & Argentina, Professional Salsa Cabaret, Final Round, \u00a0Salsa Summit 2017 <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if you aren\u2019t aiming for exactly that level, there are several places where you can go salsa and bachata dancing in Buenos Aires. Here are some of my favorites,\u00a0listed in order of the day of the week.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3><b>Mondays<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><img class=\"wp-image-976 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Feeling-Salsa-in-Buenos-Aires.jpg\" alt=\"Salsa in Buenos Aires Feeling\" width=\"543\" height=\"363\"><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/feelingmultiespacio\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feeling<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a pretty small place located in Palermo. Mondays is the best day to go here, even if they host weekend events too. They usually offer salsa classes from 19.30 on Mondays, while the social dance starts at 23.00 and goes on until about 3.00am. The crowd is a mix of beginners and advanced dancers. The ambiance is great and you\u2019ll be able to dance salsa and bachata non-stop until closing time, and still be thinking how great it would be if the DJ could play just one more song when the music stops.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3><b>Tuesdays<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is always something going on in Buenos Aires, but there are not any regular salsa events that I know of on Tuesdays. There are several classes to choose from though, at places such as <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasalsera.com\/index1.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Salsera<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with great instructors. La Salsera offer classes in Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may need one day of rest since the events of the rest of the week will keep you busy. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3><b>Wednesdays<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><img class=\"size-large wp-image-977 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Bachat-kiss-me-dance-salsa-in-buenos-aires-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\" kiss me dance salsa in buenos aires\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wednesdays at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Bachata-KISS-ME-1720201441576663\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KissMe<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is all about bachata. The level is usually high with great dancers all over the place. I think you develop a lot as a dancer by dancing with others on that level. It\u2019s also entertaining to watch improvised mini shows on the dance floor. The ambiance and the music is great. It goes on until about 4am and ended up becoming one of my absolute favorite places. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3><b>Thursdays<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><img class=\"wp-image-978 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/La-curva-dance-salsa-in-buenos-aires.jpg\" alt=\"La curva dance salsa in buenos aires\" width=\"654\" height=\"235\"><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/lacurvarestobar\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Curva<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is located about 20 min drive from Palermo in Buenos Aires. They usually organize different events throughout the week, and Thursdays is the day of salsa and bachata. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When I went, they had two dance floors; one with salsa, and another with bachata. Later the same night, they combined both at one of the dancefloors, and started to play reggaeton and more traditional music on the other dancefloor. The level was very mixed. Some were just there to have a good time and didn\u2019t really dance salsa or bachata. I went with a group of friends and we had lots of fun. It was pretty crowded until closing at 5am.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3><b>Fridays<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><img class=\"wp-image-979 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Norcenter-Salsa-in-Buenos-Aires.jpg\" alt=\"Norcenter Salsa in Buenos Aires\" width=\"632\" height=\"474\"><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/79964741921\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Norcenter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a shopping center that hosts salsa and bachata nights several days throughout the week. On Fridays, they usually offer free classes from about 11pm, followed by social dancing until 4am. I only went once but had a good time. Many of my local friends go regularly, especially those who live in the north part of Buenos Aires. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another great option on Fridays is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasalsera.com\/index1.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Salsera<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the same place that offers classes on Tuesdays. On Fridays, they have two dance floors; salsa downstairs, and bachata upstairs. Sometime between 12am-1am is a good time to go. The night starts pretty late in BA. I went here 3am once and there were still a lot of people dancing.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img class=\"wp-image-980 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/La-Salsera-dance-salsa-in-buenos-aires.jpg\" alt=\"dance salsa in buenos aires la salsera\" width=\"630\" height=\"418\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br>You can\u2019t list salsa places in Buenos Aires without mentioning\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/centroculturalazucar.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azucar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. There are two, Azcuar Palermo and Azcuar Abasto. Both are open until about 5-6am and play a good mix of salsa and bachata. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azucar Abasto, located at Avenida Corrientes, is one of the oldest salsa venues in Buenos Aires and organizes bachata nights on Fridays. Many times with live music. Check out <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/azucarabasto\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their FB page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for specifics about particular nights.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3><b>Saturdays<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><img class=\"size-full wp-image-981 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/azcucar-palermo.jpg\" alt=\"azcucar palermo dance salsa in buenos aires\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\"><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many events to choose from on Saturdays. A safe card for a good night with lots of bachata and salsa is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azucarbelgrano.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azucar Palermo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The music is great and it gets crowded around 12.30-1am. I\u2019ve taken a sunrise walk home from here more than once. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3><b>Sundays<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><img class=\"size-large wp-image-982 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/samiraholma.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/malecon-buenos-aires-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"malecon dance salsa in buenos aires\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sundays are very happening in the salsa and bachata world in Buenos Aires. If the weather is nice, my personal favorite is Malecon. The event takes place at an open space in Puerto Madero, where you dance outside to the sound of the river and a mix of bachata and salsa. It\u2019s open from 6pm until 12am. I love dancing outside and the ambience was amazing when I went. This was during the winter time. My local friends told me that it gets about 10 times more crowded during the summer. Can\u2019t wait to go back\u2026<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you feel like continuing afterwards, Norcenter organizes salsa and bachata nights on Sundays until about 2am. This weekly event starts at 23.00 with pizza on the house, and social dance until about 4am. The crowd is a mix of beginners and advanced dancers. I really liked the ambiance here. It\u2019s also a favorite of many of my local friends.
